Mary – 5 year old female Scottish Terrier

Mary is a 5 year old female Scottish Terrier. Mary came into rescue after being found in poor condition. Luckily for her she ensured that Mary received prompt vet treatment. After examination it became clear that Mary had a bone stuck in her throat and was slowly starving to death. She had surgery to remove the bone and has been on a very carefully monitored diet to ensure that her throat healed without further complications.

She has been on a soft diet, pain medication and antibiotics and has responded really well. Her weight has improved and so has her condition. She is still not looking her best yet as her coat was shaved as it was in such poor condition. This will grow back and we are sure in a little while she will be returned to her former glory once more.

Mary is fine to be re homed with other dogs provided they are not all over her, she is quite a needy dog and likes to be close by to her humans most of the time. We suspect that Mary had not lived in a home prior to coming to rescue as she is not yet clean , although she is making great progress, accidents should be expected. Her preference would be to sleep with you at night but she has accepted that her place is in the kitchen and as long as she has other dogs with her she is quiet overnight.

It is important that Mary is not encouraged to over bond and her independence is positively rewarded. She is learning all about walking on lead and is making improvements, again she will need ongoing training in her new home. Mary loves people but as we have a limited history for her only older children please 10+.

Mary has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. She is currently being fostered in Aldershot Hampshire.
