Brody is a 5 year old male English Springer Spaniel who was very sadly signed over as he was struggling to cope in a busy household with 3 children and a younger dog. Brody was quite an anxious little man when he arrived, he appeared afraid of doing something wrong but it took him less than 24 hours to come out of his shell and show me his bouncy, affectionate Springer personality.
Brody absolutely loves going out and about exploring the countryside, scentwork and with a bit more training he would make a great cani-cross dog, he runs well and enjoys it but needs work on maintaining straightness when running on a belt.
Brody has shown no aggression towards people since being in foster although takes slightly longer to trust men than he does women so his adopters will need to be understanding to allow him to build trust and they must be patient and allow Brody to come to them in his own time. When he trusts you Brody is really affectionate, he loves a chest rub during which you usually get a face lick!
Brody needs ongoing work with his recall so is currently still on a longline or on a secure field but he keeps an eye on your whereabouts and is keen to please you. We have visited secure fields which Brody has absolutely loved especially when you take his ball either for a game of fetch or hiding the ball and getting him to use his nose to find it.
Brody has shown fear aggression around other dogs and although he is able to pass dogs within about 6ft without outward reaction, he doesn’t want to interact with them and doesn’t enjoy their company, despite this he is easily managed by providing him space to pass without interaction. Brody needs an adult only home with no other dogs or children.
Brody is neutered chipped vaccinated wormed and flead and adoption is subject to meet and greet homecheck and adoption fee.
