Sammy – 1-2 year old female Jack Russell Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Sammy is an adorable 1 year old female Jack Russell Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier. We were told she was 2 but believe she is younger and needs a specific kind of home. Please read her write up and contact us if you meet her requirements. She is very very scared of things – new people, strange noises, all manner of things (when she came to us she had to have several weeks of tablets to bring down the bruising and damage she came to us with).

She needs a home with experience of dealing with this kind of terrified behaviour and who will be able to work with her on this – it will take months if not years to get her to a stage where she isn’t fearful. She needs a home with a calm, confident dog to help with her confidence. She has lots of energy and will need a home where she will get 2 hours + of walking every day. She’s okay to be left for reasonable periods of time, good with other dogs, no to cats, older children only given her anxiety. She does bark in the car through excitement. She pulls on the lead but it’s not exactly an issue given her size.

Given her anxiety she will need 4-6 meets and therefore although we rehome anywhere in the UK home for the right home a home more local to Rotherham is more practical. As always we require everyone in the family and any children who are regularly going to be in contact with the dog to attend the meet.

Our usual process is that you will need to come and meet the dog (outside and following social distancing rules) and that adoption is then done on a second meet. For some dogs additional meets may be required (definitely the case for Sammi) and potential adopters will be required to travel to the dogs location for all meets.

If you meet the criteria for one of our current dogs for adoption please call us from 8am-8pm to discuss (if your call is not answered please leave a voicemail and we will return your call).

If you are suited we will then arrange a homecheck, vet reference and meet with the dog. We only rehome where all resident and previous animals are/were regularly vaccinated and neutered/speyed unless on veterinary advice
